But to no avail.&nbsp; Yosef is dragged out of prison, he suggests an interpretation, and the rest is history.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Seforno shares the explanation that most of us are told when we first hear the story: How did Pharoah know that Yosef was correct?&nbsp; What stood out about Yosef\u2019s interpretation?&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u05e8\u05b8\u05d0\u05b8\u05d4&nbsp;\u05e9\u05b6\u05c1\u05db\u05bb\u05bc\u05dc\u05b8\u05bc\u05dd&nbsp;\u05d7\u05b8\u05e9\u05b0\u05c1\u05d1\u05d5\u05bc&nbsp;\u05e9\u05b6\u05c1\u05d4\u05b5\u05dd&nbsp;\u05e9\u05b0\u05c1\u05e0\u05b5\u05d9&nbsp;\u05d7\u05b2\u05dc\u05d5\u05de\u05d5\u05ea,&nbsp;\u05d5\u05bc\u05e4\u05b8\u05ea\u05b0\u05e8\u05d5\u05bc&nbsp;\u05d0\u05d5\u05ea\u05b8\u05dd&nbsp;\u05e2\u05b7\u05dc&nbsp;\u05e9\u05b0\u05c1\u05e0\u05b5\u05d9&nbsp;\u05d3\u05b0\u05bc\u05d1\u05b8\u05e8\u05b4\u05d9\u05dd\u2026\u05d7\u05b2\u05dc\u05d5\u05dd \u05e4\u05b7\u05bc\u05e8\u05b0\u05e2\u05d4 \u05d0\u05b6\u05d7\u05b8\u05d3 \u05d4\u05d5\u05bc\u05d0.&nbsp;\u05d5\u05bc\u05dc\u05b0\u05e4\u05b4\u05d9\u05db\u05b8\u05da\u05b0&nbsp;\u05d8\u05b8\u05e2\u05d5\u05bc&nbsp;\u05d4\u05b7\u05e4\u05bc\u05d5\u05ea\u05b0\u05e8\u05b4\u05dd.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Pharaoh saw that everyone thought they were two dreams and interpreted them as two separate things\u2026[But Joseph said]: \u201cPharaoh\u2019s dream is one,\u201d and therefore the other interpreters have made a mistake.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The other interpreters missed the mark because they assumed the two dreams were disconnected.&nbsp; The ingenious Yosef astutely understood the dreams as one.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>How did Yosef discover the dreams were one?&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Not to discount the brilliance of Yosef or the obvious Yad Hashem, the divine providence staring us in the face as we read the entire story of Yosef and his brothers, but the answer may be simpler than that.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Abarbanel shrewdly notices a discrepancy in the text as to whether Pharaoh had one or two dreams.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p><strong>\u05d5\u05d0\u05ea\u05d4&nbsp;\u05ea\u05e8\u05d0\u05d4&nbsp;\u05e9\u05d4\u05db\u05ea\u05d5\u05d1&nbsp;\u05e4\u05e2\u05dd&nbsp;\u05e7\u05d5\u05e8\u05d0&nbsp;\u05d4\u05d7\u05dc\u05d5\u05de\u05d5\u05ea&nbsp;\u05d4\u05d0\u05dc\u05d4&nbsp;\u05d1\u05dc\u05e9\u05d5\u05df&nbsp;\u05e8\u05d1\u05d9\u05dd&nbsp;\u05db\u05de\u201d\u05e9&nbsp;\u05d5\u05d9\u05d7\u05dc\u05d5\u05dd&nbsp;\u05e9\u05e0\u05d9\u05ea&nbsp;\u05d5\u05d0\u05d5\u05de\u05e8&nbsp;\u05d5\u05d0\u05d9\u05df&nbsp;\u05e4\u05d5\u05ea\u05e8&nbsp;\u05d0\u05d5\u05ea\u05dd&nbsp;\u05dc\u05e4\u05e8\u05e2\u05d4&nbsp;\u05d5\u05e4\u05e2\u05dd&nbsp;\u05e7\u05d5\u05e8\u05d0 \u05d4\u05dd&nbsp;\u05d7\u05dc\u05d5\u05dd&nbsp;\u05d0\u05d7\u05d3&nbsp;\u05db\u05de\u201c\u05e9&nbsp;\u05d5\u05d9\u05e7\u05e5&nbsp;\u05e4\u05e8\u05e2\u05d4&nbsp;\u05d5\u05d4\u05e0\u05d4&nbsp;\u05d7\u05dc\u05d5\u05dd&nbsp;\u05d5\u05d9\u05e1\u05e4\u05e8&nbsp;\u05e4\u05e8\u05e2\u05d4&nbsp;\u05dc\u05d4\u05dd&nbsp;\u05d0\u05ea&nbsp;\u05ea\u05dc\u05d5\u05de\u05d5&nbsp;\u05d5\u05d9\u05d0\u05de\u05e8&nbsp;\u05e4\u05e8\u05e2\u05d4&nbsp;\u05d0\u05dc&nbsp;\u05d9\u05d5\u05e1\u05e3&nbsp;\u05d7\u05dc\u05d5\u05dd&nbsp;<\/strong><br><strong>\u05d7\u05dc\u05de\u05ea\u05d9.&nbsp;\u05d1\u05d7\u05dc\u05d5\u05de\u05d9&nbsp;\u05d4\u05e0\u05e0\u05d9 \u05e2\u05d5\u05de\u05d3&nbsp;\u05d5\u05d2\u05d5\u2019&nbsp;\u05d5\u05d0\u05e8\u05d0&nbsp;\u05d1\u05d7\u05dc\u05d5\u05de\u05d9&nbsp;\u05d5\u05d2\u05d5\u2019&nbsp;\u05dc\u05db\u05df&nbsp;\u05d0\u05e9\u05d5\u05d1&nbsp;\u05e9\u05e4\u05e8\u05e2\u05d4&nbsp;\u05d4\u05e8\u05d2\u05d9\u05e9&nbsp;\u05d1\u05e2\u05e6\u05de\u05d5&nbsp;\u05e9\u05d4\u05d9\u2019&nbsp;\u05d4\u05db\u05dc&nbsp;\u05d7\u05dc\u05d5\u05dd&nbsp;\u05d0\u05d7\u05d3&nbsp;\u05d5\u05dc\u05db\u05df&nbsp;\u05d4\u05d9\u05d4&nbsp;\u05de\u05db\u05e0\u05d4&nbsp;\u05d0\u05d5\u05ea\u05d5&nbsp;\u05ea\u05de\u05d9\u05d3&nbsp;\u05d1\u05dc\u05e9\u05d5\u05df&nbsp;\u05d9\u05d7\u05d9\u05d3&nbsp;\u05d0\u05de\u05e0\u05dd \u05d4\u05e4\u05d5\u05ea\u05e8\u05d9\u05dd&nbsp;\u05d7\u05e9\u05d1\u05d5&nbsp;\u05e9\u05d9\u05d4\u05d9\u05d5&nbsp;\u05e9\u05e0\u05d9&nbsp;\u05d7\u05dc\u05d5\u05de\u05d5\u05ea.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>You will see, that the verses sometimes call them \u2018dreams,\u2019 in the plural, as it says, \u201cAnd he dreamed a&nbsp;<em>second<\/em>&nbsp;time\u201d (41:5), and \u201cThere was no one to interpret&nbsp;<em>them<\/em>&nbsp;for Pharaoh\u201d (41:47). &nbsp;And sometimes the two are called one, as it says, \u201cAnd Pharaoh awoke \u2013 it was&nbsp;<em>a dream<\/em>!\u201d (41:7); \u201cAnd Pharaoh told them his&nbsp;<em>dream<\/em>\u201c (41:8); \u201cAnd Pharaoh said to Joseph, \u2018I have dreamed&nbsp;<em>a dream<\/em>\u2019\u201d (41:15); \u201cIn my&nbsp;<em>dream<\/em>&nbsp;I was standing\u2026\u201d (41:17); \u201cI saw in my&nbsp;<em>dream<\/em>\u2026\u201d(41:22) Therefore, I think that Pharaoh himself felt that everything was one dream, which is why he always spoke of it in the singular.
